Welcome to Grow2Know

We design gardens to educate, empower and connect communities through nature

Grow2Know CIC is a non-profit garden design company based in North Kensington, London. We design gardens with a difference – our mission is to make gardening as inclusive as possible and connect, inspire and educate communities with the power of nature.  We encourage young people from all backgrounds to get involved and break stereotypes by making gardening a ‘cool’ thing to do.

Our projects can help teach younger generations invaluable skills in a progressive world – how to tend the land and grow food, how to combat climate change and help small communities heal and thrive. We are best known for our work around the Grenfell area – greening up urban spaces to help the community heal from adversity. We love the positive impact our projects create and are committed to what we do.

The Grow2Know Story

From humble beginnings great things happen

Our story starts in Grenfell – after the fire residents turned to different activities in the hope to find peace after such adversity. Tayshan Hayden-Smith and other community members started the Aklam bridge project to turn an unused, neglected space into a functioning community kitchen garden decorated by urban art. Community members were able to express themselves through nature – creating life from darkness.

Nature can be one of the biggest healers and after witnessing the positive impact the project had on many people at Grenfell in a time of grief, Tayshan was committed to helping others benefit from what he had learned. Tayshan’s aspiration was to create a legacy based on growth as individuals and as a community. Grow2Know grew organically from this point and in 2019 alongside co-directors, BBC Instant Gardener Danny Clarke, and agriculturist Ali Yellop, Grow2Know was registered as a CIC. Tayshan, Danny and Grow2Know are frequently in the press for their endeavours – it seems the world is watching and cares about what they are doing. This is great news in a time of adversity and the team cannot wait to see the difference they can make together through Grow2Know.
